In August 2023, the Ironman 70.3 World Championship will take place in Finland - be a part of it and experience the Finnish hospitality as well as the incomparable nature of the region first hand!
The city of Lahti, located about 100km north of Helsinki, offers numerous sights and, in addition to hosting the famous ski jumping series, has been the talk of the town since 2022 as the location of the IM 70.3 World Championship 2023. In August, the average temperature is 10-20 degrees. The official languages are Finnish and Swedish, but the population also speaks very good English. In addition to Finnish vocabulary, you can also use your English skills to get into conversation quickly. By the way, Finnish people are always on first-name terms, so it is no wonder that they are said to be very friendly, hospitable and talkative!
If you are a nature lover, you will get your money's worth here! Lahti lies on the shores of Lake Vesijärvi and is thus a prime example of the charming Finnish towns in the land of thousand lakes. In addition to numerous water protection areas and hiking areas, the Päijänne National Park is located very close to the city: with its numerous islands and lakes, it extends over a total of 14 km². Enough space to recharge your batteries for the upcoming race or after a successful start! For days and evenings when you feel more like socialising than slowing down in Finnish nature, Lahti harbour will be your place to be. Here, cosy cafés, restaurants and shopping opportunities in the nearby shopping centre and the city centre invite you to linger. The view of the water speaks for itself - especially by the beautiful evening lighting!
During race week, we will make sure that you can fully concentrate on your competition. If you are interested in extending your stay and would like to explore the area with a camper van after the World Championships, for example, we will be happy to help and support you in your planning.
